Our colleagues from the Schaffrath working group in Aachen left us with a Christmas present. On December 23, 2022, our joint study on Jacalin-Dirigent chimeras could be published in Plants. Such proteins produce resistance to plant pathogens in sweet grasses. In dicotyledonous plants, the domains are present as separate proteins. Thus, a total of 50 JRL proteins and 24 DIR proteins have been identified here. However, selected combinations do not yet indicate the same physiological function. Thus, it remains exciting about the function of this protein group.
